JEWISH STUDIES AND

DEGREE PROGRAMS

The various disciplines comprising Jewish studies at Columbia University are based in four departments: Jewish history in the Department of History; Hebrew language and literature in the Department of Middle East Languages and Cultures; Yiddish studies in the Department of Germanic Languages; and the study of Judaism in the Department of Religion.

Each department offers both graduate and undergraduate courses each semester. See listings of Jewish studies courses offerred at Columbia for Fall 2005 and for Spring 2005.

Ph.D. Degree Programs

The requirements for acceptance to and completion of the graduate degree programs in any one of the four fields in Jewish studies are listed in the Bulletin of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Liberal Studies M.A. Program

The Liberal Studies M.A. Program in Jewish Studies is designed for those who are interested in serious study in the fields of Judaica for their own personal or professional enrichment.
