Isabelle Levy


Isabelle Levy (BA Columbia; PhD Harvard) was most recently the Stanley A. and Barbara B. Rabin Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Israel & Jewish Studies, 2016-2017. Her research specializes in the relationships among the Hebrew, Arabic, Spanish and Italian literary traditions of the medieval Mediterranean, with particular emphasis on how medieval Hebrew literature serves as both a mediator and innovator across these varied linguistic and cultural environs. She has articles forthcoming in A Comparative History of Literatures in the Iberian Peninsula, Volume II and in the Mélanges de la Casa de Velázquez. She was a Lecturer in English and Comparative Literature at Columbia, 2015-2016, and a Medieval Fellow at Fordham University, 2014-2015.
