Join us for an academic lunchtime lecture with Bryan Roby on 'We Too Shall Overcome': Mizrahi Perspectives on Civil Rights in Israel in the Early Years of the State.

Bryan Roby received his PhD in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Manchester. He has completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at New York University. His book, The Mizrahi Era of Rebellion: Israel’s Forgotten Civil Rights Struggle 1948–1966, is forthcoming in November 2015. Roby's current research focuses on connections made between the African-American community and Mizrahi Jews in the fight for social equality and rights during the 1970s. He has lectured on Israeli and Middle Eastern history throughout Europe, England, Israel, and the United States.
