Our Summer Film Series begins with the satirical short film, The Anne Frank Gift Shop. Join us online Wednesday, July 9, at 7:00 p.m. EST for a screening of the 15-minute film, followed by a Q&A with writer-director Mickey Rapkin (author of the book Pitch Perfect, which inspired the hit film series), co-star Jason Butler Harner, and producer/Managing Director of Reboot Studios Noam Dromi led by IIJS Film Programmer Stuart Weinstock.
The Anne Frank Gift Shop (15 minutes; English) is one of the most talked-about short films of the year, and was shortlisted for an Academy Award nomination. The film is a satirical meeting between Millennial marketing specialists and representatives of Amsterdam's Anne Frank House, in which they discuss how to connect Gen Z with Anne Frank and with Holocaust history, in general. This film's humor offers a gateway to profound conversations about Holocaust memory, education, and our duties to our ancestors. The Anne Frank Gift Shop is provided by Reboot Studios and ChaiFlicks, a streaming platform dedicated to Jewish content and the exclusive streaming home for the film in the United States.
This event will not be recorded, so be sure to join us on July 9 to see the film and participate in our insightful conversation!
